my backyard nature

its all about nature!

Onion Weed

This flower looks really beautiful but if it’s in a garden, it’s invasive!

The bulbs can be pickled just like pickling onions. Flowers make an attractive addition to salad and the leaves can be chopped and added to dishes that require mild oniony flavor. Whole young plants can be used just like a spring onion in sandwiches and salads.(Courtesy:pod gardening) Isn’t it interesting?

An egret

An egret came down to look for his breakfast this early morning! I think there are lots of small insects & fish for him to harvest. It was wading as it searches for its prey!

A duck family

I found this duck family near my home & there are four fledglings, they seems to be pretty much ready to take off! First pic has mama duck with the fledglings & second one has dad with them. They were scared when they saw me so as usual they quickly swam away leaving me with these  blur pictures!
