My Backyard Nature

its all about nature!

Neighborhood Giveaway

I have been giving away plants in my neighborhood for a couple of years now.

The seedlings almost ready for the give away

As a volunteer in association with Monarch Fellowship, I am trying to spread awareness among people regarding endangered species especially Monarch Butterflies by giving away California Native seedlings to those who are interested. I am giving away CA Narrow leaf Milkweed as well as Seaside Daisy, California Sunflower, Buckwheat, Coneflower, Black sage, Clarkia etc., The Milkweed is very important for the Monarchs that lay eggs on the south of the Rockies and the monarch caterpillars can only feed on the leaves of the milkweed until they eclose. These California Native flowers can help Monarchs and other wildlife survive.

California Clarika
California Seaside Daisy
California Blacksage
California Coneflower
Narrow leaf Milkweed

I hope more people will get inspired by the California Native plants that are given away and opt for a green lush garden that are native to their place instead of dead lawn that provides no nectar or other supplement to the wildlife. This applies not only to the gardens in California but everywhere in the world, it is best to stick to the native plants than buying the exotic plants that are not native and in most cases they are invasive and wont benefit most wildlife!
